Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Hoods
What is a custom range hood?
A custom range hood is a hood surround built specifically for your kitchen — designed to match your cabinetry, fit your exact dimensions, and reflect your personal style. Unlike stock hoods, no two custom hoods are exactly alike.
What materials can a custom hood be built from?
We build custom hoods in a variety of materials including wood, painted MDF, shiplap, plaster, and metal. The right choice depends on your kitchen's overall style and your cabinetry finish.
Does a custom hood affect ventilation?
The hood surround is a decorative element that houses your ventilation insert. We work with your existing or new ventilation system to make sure everything functions properly while looking great.
Can the hood be matched to my existing cabinets?
Absolutely. Matching your hood to your cabinetry is one of the most popular choices our customers make — it creates a seamless, built-in look that feels intentional and high-end.
How long does it take to build and install a custom hood?
Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the design and materials selected. We'll walk you through a clear timeline during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect.
Do you handle both the build and the installation?
Yes. Edwards Design Group handles everything from design and fabrication to final installation, so you have one point of contact throughout the entire project.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Indianapolis and the greater central Indiana area. Contact us with your location and we'll confirm we can service your project.
